- ➤ A Verizon outage that began Jan. 14 continues to affect Delaware customers, with many devices showing SOS mode and hundreds of thousands of issues reported online; Verizon engineers are working to restore voice and data services (911 access remains available for emergency calls). - ➤ Delaware Good’s Dr. Aaron Bass visits Ochinili’s Steaks in Middletown to show why locals praise their authentic Philly cheesesteaks. Owner Anthony, a Philly native, explains his recipe using rib-eye, seeded rolls and house-made sauce that makes the shop a community staple. DETV

- ➤ University of Delaware community remembers Dr. Kristi Kiick, the Blue and Gold Distinguished Professor Emeritus, who passed away on Jan. 2. Known for her innovative work in biomaterials and dedication as a mentor, a celebration of life is planned for a future date. University of Delaware
- ➤ The Delaware House approved an amended bill requiring every school district and charter school to adopt policies that limit cell phone use during class. The bill now goes back to the Senate for re-approval (aiming to cut classroom distractions). WDEL

- ➤ Delaware State Parks will host its 75th Anniversary Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 19 at several parks — including Lums Pond and Trap Pond — for volunteer cleanups and reforestation to boost park health for the new season. Deleware State Government

- ➤ The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency said scientists have identified the remains of Lt. Col. Louis Roemer (43), a Wilmington soldier missing since WWII, using dental, anthropological, and DNA tests. His family received a briefing on Jan. 14, and his burial will be scheduled soon. - ➤ Delaware wastewater testing shows the new H3N2 flu at a level of 24.26, more than double the national median of 10.78 as of Jan. 3. The CDC reports rising hospitalizations + warns the outbreak may last for several weeks. Delaware Online
