  • Delaware Online photos captured a memorial service honoring fallen trooper Cpl. Matthew T. Ty Snook held on Monday, Jan. 5 at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark and a girls basketball game at the Ursuline gym on Jan. 6 where Ursuline won 41-33.  Delaware Online

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The News Journal archives show a 1926 accident in which three Cranston Heights firemen died when their engine overturned on an icy highway near Marshallton, and a 1976 public hearing where New Castle County approved an $8 million plan to move a landfill to address water pollution.  Delaware Online

  • Penn Cinema on Wilmington Riverfront is celebrating National Popcorn Day on Jan. 18 and 19 by offering a bring-your-own-bucket promotion where moviegoers can fill a clean, watertight bucket up to 400 oz of popcorn for $5 while supplies last.  Delaware LIVE

  • The University of Delaware reported appointments of two professors to its new Early Career Researcher Editorial Board, awarded a Dean F. Failey grant for the exhibition (Pomo Baskets, Woven Futures) opening spring at Mechanical Hall Gallery, published a new book on AI integration, and memorialized two emeritus professors.  University of Delaware

  • Delaware leaders unveiled a 2025 Climate Action Plan on Wednesday that outlines measures to lower greenhouse gas emissions and improve resiliency through strategies for transportation, energy & land use.
