- ➤ After a nonprofit assumed management of Christina Park’s tent city on East 4th Street this week, Friendship House met with city staff, police, and community members to help 50 to 60 homeless individuals nightly (portable restrooms and weekly cleanings are planned). WDEL

- ➤ Wilmington actor Aubrey Plaza stars in Sesame Street's new special — Elmo's World: Dance Party! uploaded on Jan. 8, where she appears as Miss Noodle and offers quirky dance moves that test Elmo's patience. Delaware Online
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Delaware’s unemployment rate was 4.9% in November—the highest in four years—while nonfarm jobs increased slightly, the Office of Occupational and Labor Market Information reported on January 8. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Teachers at Georgetown Middle School are using augmented reality glasses to support students working with Carnegie Learning's Mathia program; the glasses show symbols that signal when students need help. Researchers will collect data until Carnegie Mellon returns in spring. WDEL

- ➤ Delaware’s Division of Revenue will begin processing 2025 individual tax returns January 26 — refunds will start on February 16, so filing online is encouraged for faster processing. Deleware State Government
