- ➤ New Castle County Police, Delaware F.O.P. Lodge 5 and Claymont Fire Company presented a $7,500 check to Helen F. Graham Cancer Center on Tuesday, Dec. 30 to honor Detective Christopher Skrobot who is battling Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Funds were raised during No Shave November and Nails for November. WDEL
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire broke out at a construction site at St. Mark's High School on Wed, Dec. 31, causing water and smoke damage but no injuries + the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the cause while the school remained closed for Christmas break. WDEL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Dec. 31, the Delaware Department of Labor reported that it had reduced its unemployment claims backlog by refocusing on service delivery, compliance, & fiscal management and by using the Claimant 360 and IQ Fraud dashboards. Deleware State Government
- ➤ Local housing advocates say the housing first model helps homeless residents find permanent homes at sites such as the Hope Center & Central YMCA. Federal officials are pulling a $10 million grant, and local leaders worry that cuts may force a reduction in supportive services soon. Spotlight Delaware
